Skincare Tips for Oily Skin

Everyone has a different skin type. One is not better than the others, they all just require a different care routine to keep them looking their best. Here are our top 5 skincare tips for an oily skin type.

woman washing her face

Wash Your Face Two Times a Day

Every skin type has to wash at least once a day, but the oily skin type needs to do it twice. Oils tend to build up quickly on the surface of the skin, especially in the summer and when you touch your face a lot. Use a mild cleanser twice a day to prevent that build up of gunk!

Hands Off!

As we mentioned above, dirt builds up on your skin if you touch it. Keep your hands away from your face. Avoid picking and poking, and if you must touch your face, wash your hands first! Always use a clean towel and makeup brushes. Dirty tools can harbor bacteria!

woman using moisturizer

Use a Moisturizer

It may seem counterintuitive, but a moisturizer is still important for those with oily skin. Use a water-based product to retain your body’s natural moisture. Just because your skin is greasy doesn’t mean it’s properly hydrated!

Exfoliate

Dead skin cells and bacteria can easily stick to oily skin. Use an exfoliator once to twice a week to remove all that unwanted stuff from your face. This can also help prevent breakouts and polish your skin for a fresh look!

woman using an astringent

Use an Astringent

Close your sensitive pores by applying an astringent to your face using a clean cotton pad. Astringents also remove dirt and makeup that may have been left behind. Make sure your astringent is alcohol free.
