Most students, whether they are going to a university, college, or trade school, are taking career outlook into consideration before choosing an educational institution. Here at Montana Academy of Salons, we think this is an important step in choosing the right school to enroll in. If you’re interested in starting a cosmetology course, here are a few careers that a licensed, well-qualified cosmetologist could have if they wish to pursue them.

1. Freelancer

Freelancing can allow a cosmetologist to set their own schedule and work in many different aspects of the beauty industry. You could perform hair, makeup, nail, or esthetics services for a variety of clients. Many freelancers choose to book several types of services in the week so they can keep things interesting!

2. Salon Manager

Our cosmetology course covers 150 hours of salon management, professional ethics, customer services, and a variety of other business skills that may help a student pursue a management position later on. Salon managers are usually a part of the day-to-day activities at the salon. If you’re interested in being a beauty professional and a leader, you should look into becoming a salon manager!

That’s right, a cosmetologist could become an esthetician if they want to! The skincare portion of our cosmo course covers facials, massage, makeup, lash extensions, brow and lash tinting, waxing, and even more skills. Many estheticians find reward in helping their guests feel beautiful in the skin they’re in. Does that sound like the job for you? Check out the career path of an esthetician!
